Boundaries are easy to cross. Often there are no visible lines. Tripping over what comes out of our mouth vs what another wants to hear could be a football field apart.
So how do we build boundaries without burning bridges?
Topping the list is knowing who to let “in” to your life and who to avoid. The late comedian Phyllis Diller said keep negative people out. I expand that to those who make us shine are “in”.
So what do we do with family? We all have family and friends who don’t necessarily make us shine yet they don’t mean to bring us harm either. Let’s call them defacto “in’s”.
Learning to manage difficult people and situations is a skill set to be cultivated. Or you’ll forever be pulling your hair out finding yourself in frustrating situations.
For example, you’re a realtor. And the couple you’re working with disagree on everything: the price, how much to spruce the place up, timeline, etc. One spouse is easier to work with, the other, not so much.
So how do you get the job done without jumping off a cliff?
This may sound hokey, I start with a rose! Say what? Yes, a “protection rose” to be precise. This tool works like a charm so hear me out.
The Metaphysical Power of a Roses!
Roses are an incredible tool, especially in the metaphysical world. So not only are they pleasing to the eye and smell like perfume, if you use them, as I teach, as a metaphysical tool, life gets brighter, smarter, clearer and more fluid.
The first rose to include in your metaphysical tool chest is your “protection” rose. In your mind’s eye, place a visual of a rose out in front of you. (If what you’re working on requires a bouquet to surround your entire body, go for it!)
Like a catcher’s mitt, this rose will catch the crap flung your way. And, like a catcher’s mitt, might just toss back from whence it came!
Now that you’ve got your visual, we’re just beginning. Just like with a real rose, metaphysical roses wilt too. So check in with it at regular intervals and change it out if it’s losing its luster. If you’re feeling a bit long in the tooth, tired, cranky, things aren’t going your way, check in with your rose. Bet it’ll be time for a new one.
There are other roses for you to use in your metaphysical arsenal:
There’s the
a. “boomerang” rose
b. Mirror rose
c. Sticky rose
d. Vacuum or Roto-Rooter rose
Just to name a few.
So you arrive at work where there’s loads of ‘competition’ energy or ‘jealous’ energy or ‘wondering what you’re up to’ energy. (No preaching ‘law of attraction’ as you’re not creating what’s already there.)
One way to deal with this is to see, in your mind’s eye, what I call a ‘mirror rose’ and place it out in front of you. With the mirror side facing out. What happens is as your team mates look at you with pre-conceived thoughts, it will reflect back at them.
If they’re wishing you well, they’ll get those good vibes back at them. If they’re not, they’ll get those vibes back at them as well. I’ve literally watched co-workers turn away, lower their head, rush off to another area once they get their thoughts reflected back at them.
The bottom line is this is their energy … and doesn’t belong on you.
Another way to use roses is for answers to questions on your mind.
Remember, this is metaphysical work and visualizations happen in your mind’s eye. Now it helps when you know a few additional tools so that you can clean yourself out making this work even more potent.
For now, in your mind’s eye, put a rose in one hand and call it the “yes” rose. And then put another rose in the other hand and call that the “no” rose. Close your eyes and ask away.
A Treasure Trove of Tools
This is just the tip of the metaphysical iceberg of what you can do with roses. One of Mother Nature’s most beautiful specimens.
Doesn’t matter if it’s a long-stem rose or short-stem. If it has thorns, or smooth as a baby’s tush. The rose can be open,, closed. It can be pink, green, purpose, red. (Although, stay away from the darker shades like brown or black … at least for now. More on that in an upcoming class.)
Life can be a roller coaster. And there are no shortage of grin-and-bear-it moments. The objective is to minimize the chaos to find peace.
Roses is a tool that could help lead the way.
So thank you for allowing me to show you just a few simple ways to enjoy this marvelous “tool”. But, frankly, we’re just warming up.
Taking charge of situations, while not “losing your cool,” is a goal we’d all benefit from attaining. And establishing clear boundaries smooths the path on this roadway called life.
So keep an eye out for our upcoming classes including Boundaries: Building Solid Barriers While Not Burning Bridges at Work and in Life. Where I will share a treasure trove of tools that I’ve personally used (and continue to use) that have turned challenging relationships into tolerable one.
Life is not always easy. But having the right “tools” … metaphysical tools… can make it go a lot smoother.
